Managing performance starts by ensuring the right individual is hired for the responsibilities entrusted to them.  If the right individual cannot be recruited, then training is required for a selected individual to ensure he or she develops the required skills.

 

In addition, performance can only be measured when proper position descriptions are in place and performance expectations are clearly defined.  However, care needs to be taken to ensure goals are achievable and policies are compatible.
